SOUTHERN OKLAHOMA NURSING EDUCATION CENTER

There are only 7.5 nurses per 1,000 Oklahoma residents, ranking the state 46th in the nation for nurses per capita, according to data compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The SONEC will train 300 new nurses each year.

Since 2020, 87% of ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State nursing graduates are practicing in the region.

THE PROJECT

ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State seeks to build a 57,000 square foot state-of-the-art nursing education center on the Ardmore Campus. The facility will include classroom, laboratory, student services and flexible learning space for ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State and our partners. This project will require $25.5 million in funding and create 38 new positions to train 250-300 nurses each year.

THE MISSION

ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College will construct the Southern Oklahoma Nursing Education Center to be the premier hub for nursing education in southern Oklahoma.

This project aims to tackle the national nursing shortage by producing 250-300 new nurses annually.
