Nursing Program Career Mobility Overview
The ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College Career Mobility program offers a streamlined path for Licensed Paramedics/LPNs/LVNs to advance their careers. If you're a licensed paramedic or LPN/LVN, you can benefit from this program.
Here's how it works:
- Credit Transfer: If you're a licensed paramedic/LPN/LVN, you can directly transfer into our nursing program. You'll receive 5 college credits for completing NUR1118, which covers the fundamentals of nursing (first semester of the MSC nursing program). This credit will be added to your transcript with a "P" grade after you successfully complete 12 or more semester hours of the ADN nursing program at ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College.
- Prerequisite Course: Before entering the ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College Nursing Program, all licensed paramedics/LPNs/LVNs are required to successfully complete NUR1113, which is the Nursing Role Transition course.
- Accelerated Path: If you are a licensed paramedic/LPN/LVN who graduated within 3 years of the start of the Career Mobility (CM) nursing program, you will receive even more benefits. You'll receive 9 college credits for NUR1129, covering Health Promotion and the Nursing Process 1 (second semester of the MSC nursing program). With these credits, you'll be able to directly enter NUR2219, the third semester of the ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College Nursing Program. This means you can complete the program in just two semesters.
- Longer Graduates: If you graduated from your LPN/LVN program more than three years before starting the CM nursing program, you can request credit for extra-institutional learning by taking the NUR1129 Challenge exam. If you pass this exam, you can directly enter NUR2219 and complete the RN nursing program in two semesters.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Nursing from ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College. This degree will make you eligible to take the National Council Licensure Exam, which, upon passing, will grant you the title of Registered Nurse (RN). This program offers a swift and effective route to advancing your nursing career.
