VETERINARY NURSING DEGREE, A.A.S., ONLINE

Veterinary Nursing

Our mission at the ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College Veterinary Nursing program is to produce graduates who will be credentialed professional members of a veterinary medical team.

Proper animal care has been an integral part of our communities for years. As the demand for this animal care continues to rise we are met with a need for workforce professionals who can meet necessary criteria. ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College Veterinary Nursing offers an online alternative that can help you get your veterinary nursing degree with flexibility!

The core reason we have expanded our program to include an online platform is to serve our students and potential students. We understand it can be difficult to manage a college education in conjunction with other demands life brings. With an online program we hope to reach more students and provide a quality education that will result in an associates degree in addition to becoming a credentialed professional in the veterinary field.

ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College Veterinary Nursing students will have opportunities to gain skills that encourage life-long learning and professionalism. Successful graduates will become excellent providers of quality health care for animals and outstanding members of society.

To apply to the Veterinary Nursing Program Face-to-Face or Distance Learning please follow the Admission’s Policy and Application for Admission. There is a section in the Application that you can indicate if you are applying for Face-to-Face or Distance Learning. Once you check the Distance Learning option you can further explain what semester (Fall or Spring) and year you are applying for.

With our Distance Learning Program, you are able to learn at your own pace. We have constructed 3 different tracks for our students that we hope will promote learning in addition to yielding optimal results upon taking the national exam post-graduation. Currently, we are offering a 2-Year Track, 3-Year Track, and 4-Year Track. The core VN curriculum must be completed within 6 years. An advisor in the Veterinary Nursing Program can help you navigate and decide which option would be a good fit for you!

Though the name Off-Campus Clinical Institution Site (OCCI Site) may sound daunting do not fret. This is simply a pre-approved veterinary clinic where you will be able to train and execute your hands-on essential skills and tasks! Below you will find more information and forms relating to the OCCI Site. This site must be selected and approved prior to the enrollment into any laboratory courses.

In the Veterinary Nursing program students are required to complete essential hands-on skills and tasks with horses, cattle, small ruminants, laboratory animals (rats or mice, and rabbits), and some exotic animals (birds). We understand that these animals may be difficult to obtain for some students depending on clinic and geographical location.

Therefore, ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ State College Veterinary Nursing will offer an in-person laboratory option at the end of each fall and spring semester that covers these animals. Please see the documents below for further information.
